T. Bone Walker, qui est ici représenté dans l’œuvre de Robert Combas, est un pionnier du blues électrique en devenant le premier artiste à faire de la guitare électrique un instrument solo et une véritable pièce maîtresse de ses concerts. Walker a été intronisé à titre posthume au ‘Blues Hall of Fame’ en 1980 et au ‘Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’ en 1987. De nombreux musiciens célèbres ont reconnu leur dette envers Walker, notamment B.B. King et Jimi Hendrix, ce dernier imitant Walker en jouant lui aussi de la guitare avec ses dents.
Robert Combas, lui-même musicien et passionné de musique rock et de blues, rend ainsi hommage au guitariste américain en le faisant entrer son univers graphique qui fait souvent référence à la musique rock.

T. Bone Walker, here represented in the artwork, pioneered electric blues by becoming the first artist to make the electric guitar a solo instrument and a true centerpiece of his stunning live shows. Walker was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1980 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Many famous musicians acknowledged their debt to Walker, most notably B.B. King and Jimi Hendrix, the later imitated Walker’s trick of playing the guitar with his teeth.
Robert Combas, himself a musician and passionate about rock and blues music, thus pays tribute to the American guitarist by bringing him into his graphic universe which often refers to rock music.
